For Trott resident Phyllis Naylor, the most thrilling part of being an author is not the applause or the awards, but the moment a character comes alive on paper, or the place that existed only in her head becomes real. She has also had the "distinction" of seeing her Alice series appear at the top of the American Library Association's banned book list for several years-books that libraries support and defend, despite various groups or individuals who want them removed from the shelves. In her talk, Phyllis will focus on some of these experiences and will share letters, pro and con, from parents, teachers, and readers.
